There's a warm welcome waiting at The Steading — a home made with real care for sharing.
The Steading is a newly built five-bedroom house on a quaint close just outside Belford, in north Northumberland. It sleeps twelve in comfort across two floors.
The kitchen is well kitted out for any occasion — a quick weeknight dinner or a proper feast for twelve. It's open to the living and dining space, so no one has to miss out on being together.
Open the doors up to let summer in, or light the log burners in the living room and upstairs sitting room to be cosy in winter.
We've put a lot of ourselves into The Steading. We hope you feel that from the moment you arrive.

An open-plan kitchen, dining room and living area with a log burner — the heart of the house. A twin bedroom with en-suite shower room at the far end, fully accessible with level entry from the front door. A bunk room with two bunk beds and a separate shower room with toilet. A utility room with washer and dryer and other cleaning materials. Access to the patio and outdoor areas via large bifold doors and additional french doors.
First floorThree twin bedrooms, one bathroom and an en-suite, a kitchenette, and a separate sitting room with its own log burner and a view over the fields and coastline, including the Holy Island causeway .

There are no other hidden charges.
Cancellations
If you need to cancel, we ask that the nightly rate is paid — that cost falls on us regardless. The cleaning fee won't be charged. If we're able to rebook the dates, we'll return what you've paid. Cancellations within 14 days of your stay are non-refundable.
Contribute a gift
Something to know before you arrive.
The Steading was built to be used by all - families, church groups, walking clubs, and anyone else who needs a retreat but can't afford one at market rates. This is why we've kept the nightly rate low.
If your group has the means, and if your stay was worth more to you than what you paid, you're welcome to contribute a little more. It goes toward keeping the house in good condition and toward subsidising the stays of guests who can't stretch to the full cost.
There's no pressure and no expectation, just an invitation. After your stay, we'll send you a short email with a link if you'd like to give something. You'll know it's coming, and now you know why.

You're perfectly placed here — Bamburgh Castle twelve minutes away, Holy Island fifteen, and miles of open Northumberland countryside in between.
Holy Island: check the causeway crossing times before you head out — you don't want to get caught out! Alnwick, with its castle and gardens, is half an hour south. The Cheviot Hills are accessible from the door.
